The Case for a New Religion

February 25th, 2008 by Switchblade · 7 Responses

Starting a new religion would be the ultimate Marketing project. I wouldn’t even care about real estate or money, just acceptance and participation levels.

In order to compete, my religion would have the lowest barrier to entry of any organized community on Earth. In fact, you’re already part of it.

From CNN Today.

Waves build

“One in four adults ages 18 to 29 claim no affiliation with a religious institution.”

“The American religious economy is like a marketplace — very dynamic, very competitive… Everyone is losing, everyone is gaining. There are net winners and losers, but no one can stand still. Those groups that are losing significant numbers have to recoup them to stay vibrant.”

Note the quote about Buddhism and practicing yogi’s. If Yoga can do it, why can’t we!!??

I’ve been trying to come up with a name for this thing…

I can picture you being a fired up pastor of a “mega-church.” You could be patting yourself with a hankerchief the whole time while you’d be getting yourself all worked up.

You could be just like that freaky, waxy guy on the cover of his book that’s been on every airport bookstand for a few months now. He was on 60 minutes too. You know the dude. Would look right at home in SLC.

I was always partial to Benny Hinn.

That guy always told it like it was and he had wonderfully horrible hair. Sometimes nowadays, if I don’t keep mind trimmed, it’s starts to remind me of Benny’s and that ain’t good at all.

Did you know that I was an alter boy until I was 18? Scary stuff.

Peace and love be with you.

    J

I like this bloggery and the views expressed here. I wish the dork writing it would stake claim and reveal his true identity. It makes me wonder what he is hiding. It also makes me wonder how much time he spends here and that maybe he could spend some of that time fishing with friends.

That’s just it! Fishing has always been the basis of religion… even the symbol of Jesus is a fish, and he was a “fisher of men.” I proclaim fishing for everyone to be a central theme of the new religion. Jess, welcome to the club. PS: Where were you during Amen’s purple gig the other night? I finally went out and you were “working” somewhere in the snow.

Nobody, but nobody needs or wants a new religion as much as I do. As such, there is nobody better suited to start a new one that this. Have you ever seen the National Geographic special on Jim Jones? It basically tells you how to do this, and it looks pretty easy. I think we could do it without deciding to have everybody kill themselves. Oh, and as a fringe benefit for being the founder of a new religion I think you get laid. A lot.

I was working in SLC checking out some cults there. My beliefs are still the same about those fucking retards- I mean Mormons. Sorry but I can’t get behind any religion. Have you seen the clips of Obama and his sermons ? He strategically asks people in the audience if they feel ok or maybe need some water. It’s pretty cheesy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dySlhGY6Zyo&feature=related

well I didn’t say I’m not going to vote for him. I like that dude. I do think it’s time to end this Bush/Clinton thing. I have heard other discussions that some people think Obama won’t make it to the white house because some psycho will assassinate him. I also heard a great episode on NPR about who will play Obama on SNL. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=19338727
